I have to start by saying OMG!
I remember my first BIKRAM class. I arrived early and found myself reading teacher bios on the walls of my then studio in Las Vegas. Now I am actually writing one on myself. So here it goes!
My name is Ripsi. I am American Armenian, and started my practice in 2009.
I have an older sister, younger brother and my most amazing parents George and Mariam.
All my life growing up, I looked up to my younger brother. He played hockey from the tender age of 3. I always wanted to have a sport I felt as passionate about as he did with hockey, But as I got older this idea became harder to reach.
Rewind to 2008 his then hockey coach, Pokey Reddick former Stanley Cup champion of the Edmonton Oilers, made the entire hockey team go for some yoga. While the boys thought they were going to a type of dance class, coach Reddick knew different.
In 2009 I overheard my brother talking about one of the hardest and most rewarding exercise he had done was called Bikram Yoga. I thought YOGA?! I've heard about it. I asked my brother about it, he told me I had to try it. Secretly I know he did this to bust my chops, but surprise to him and myself, first class in I was hooked!
This yoga is everything I've ever wanted to do physically. For a very long time I viewed this yoga as my sport. Something my brother and I have in common. Locker room talk, pains, gains, losses. To this day we still talk about where we are in our practice.
In 2014 I went to teacher training in Los Angeles. Best chance I have ever taken on myself, I get to share my love and passion for this practice with beautiful people from all over the world and I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my days at this point in my life.
